Cyrille Weiner, Le ban des utopies
Self-published 2008, Cyrille gave me his book when I met him during the PIY show. This book was released for the Cheminements show, in Lectoure 2008 Cyrille took some Moleskine notebooks, and stick his pictures on it. I think he did something like 60 books. A good way to get busy during winter evenings… I like the accordion

Laurent Champoussin, Cahier de formes
Self-published september 2010, this one has been released for the PIY show. 15 euros, shipping included. Laurent has been working with me on PIY. This book is about square and rectangle. Laurent usually does books with a smaller format, so I have been quite surprised when I saw this one. The format helps very much the subject

Douglas Stockdale in LensWork
This is issue dated January 2008. Douglas brought yesterday, when he came to visit me. He had a story published there : “in passing”, pictures of roadside memorials. This is a 17 years old memorial, the driver didn’t stop. I have noticed many of these on our French roads too

Harvey Benge, Birds
Self-published 2010 A few pages, very beautiful. When I was a kid I used to think that birds flying together were attending a wedding party. May be Harvey Benge has discovered this too ?

Sebastian Denz, Skateboarding 3D
This one was sponsored by Carhartt too, and a present by the same Stéphanie. But much more fun ! These glasses remind me my first 3D experience, in the 80’s, at my grand-parents, in Paris-Match. Back to this book, I love it because it’s fun, and it really works… I’m still wondering how they did this. I mean… how to decide where to add some red, or...

Dirt Ollies : a skateboard trip to Mongolia
This one was published by Bildschöne Bücher, and I guess sponsored by Carhartt. This one was a present, but - sorry Stéphanie - not my cup of tea. I think the title tells everything

Greg Friedler, Naked Las Vegas
Published by WW Norton & Company, in 2008. Can’t remember where I got it, but I remember this had been on my list for a long time. This one is fascinating, when it arrived at work, we spent lots of time looking at the book… I even had to bring it back to show it to the girls that hadn’t seen it the first time. If you have this too much in mind, you’ll think...

Emmet Gowin, Photographs
Published by Little, Brown and company in 1991, I bought it on Photoeye’s auctions May be I went a little too fast buying this one… This is not the kind of photography I usually like, but the pictures are great, and the work is good. I may give it away someday, or look at it very carefully and learn from it. Let’s give it some time. Looking at it again, it’s...

Sarah Stolfa, The Regulars
Published 2009 by Artisan, bought on Amazon (19,18 euros). This one has been on my list for a while. Simple ideas make great books. Sarah Stofla was a bartender in Philadelphia, she photographed some clients in the pub where she worked. It seems like we know these people, we feel close to them. Introduction by Jonathan Franzen.
