This book shows pictures of Jason Fulford’s archive, there are 8 chapters.
Love Fulford’s eye.
Looking at the pictures I was feeling some of them were taken in France, answer is at the end of the book, and yes ! I was right. A few of them in Paris, and one in Wimereux, for example. North of France, not the dream beach for most of the French people.
Published 2009 by Poursuite, bought at Le Bal in January
My very special dedication. Grigri is an “argot” word to say signature, and Grigri was Benoît Grimalt’s nickname when he was kid. He didn’t know this argot word and was very surprised when I asked him. Hum. What a coincidence !
The story of this book : how, when, why he started looking for traces of Syd Barrett.
This book has been published in association with Brighton Photo Biennial 2010, where this work by Rinko Kawauchi was shown (commissioned by BPB).
I didn’t bought the book when I was at the festival, because I didn’t like the book that much, but since then I kept thinking about the work.
As you may remember, "When I was a kid I used to think that birds flying together were attending a wedding party" (see the Harvey Benge’s book Birds here). So I’m very sensitive to pictures of birds flying together. May be Rinko had the same believing when she was younger, and we share that. I’m sure she has seen the magic and fairytale in birds flying anyway.
Magic and poetic.
Second part of book : pictures in the city of Brighton, add them Rinko’s poetry and some soap bubbles.
