Stephen Shore, The gardens at Giverny

Published by Aperture, 2000 (1st edition 1983)

Rinko Kawauchi, Illuminance

Published 2011 by Xavier Barral for the French edition, bought at Yvon Lambert bookshop.

I’ve been really slow on buying this one : hesitation between the French or American (Aperture) edition…

Rinko’s work on sequencing and spread is amazing, as always.

Horacio Fernández, Les livres de photographie d’Amérique latine

Published 2011 by Images En Manœuvres and Aperture for the English version.

Some of the books are currently being shown at Le Bal (on view until April 8th). Great scenography.

TOUT LIVRE EST STRUCTURÉ

Katy Ryan, The New York Times Magazine

Published 2011 by Aperture, bought on Amazon

Katy Grannan

Tierney Gearon (Diane Keaton)

Sebastião Salgado

Lars Tunbjörk

Mitch Epstein

Mikako Koyama, Thomas Hannich

Andrew Bettles, Stephen Wilkes

Thomas Demand

Alexei Hay

At the end of the books, there is a kind of index with all the tearshhets.

This book is really impressive, especially for a photo editor…

John Divola, Three Acts

Published 2006 by Aperture, bought during my NY trip at MAST books (66 Avenue A)

Robert Adams, Los Angeles Spring

Published 1986 by Aperture, bought on AbeBooks.

John Gossage, The pond

Published 2010 by Aperture, bought at Schaden during Offprint. Well I wanted to buy this one at the Aperture booth inside Paris Photo, but… I wanted to have a look at the 1985 edition, and I asked but I have been answered : “no, this book is for collectors”.

What if I’m a collector ? So I decided I’ll get the book somewhere else.

Signed copy, for non collectors.

A must-have.

Richard Misrach, Destroy this memory

Published 2010 by Aperture, bought on Amazon $46,27

The pictures speak by themselves. After Katrina.

The is no text in the book, but it takes time to read carefully all the pictures, feel anger, sadness.

Robert Adams, Our lives and our children

photographs taken near the Rocky Flats Nuclear Weapons Plant

published 1983 by Aperture, bought on Amazon for $142,93. Oups, but it’s worth it !

Exchanging emails with French photographer Grégoire Pujade-Lauraine made me look for this book. I’m quite lucky i found it.

Another great lesson from Robert Adams.
He photographed people closed to the Denver factory of plutonium bombs.

He’s “just” showing people, passer by in the streets, the daily life of a normal city.

Robert Adams, Summer nights walking

This one is edited by Aperture, and i bought it on thehut.com too (£19,74).

It is an expanded version of the 1985 edition.

This is the Robert Adams I love.

And i like the paper (and the smell), the format. The pictures are great. It’s all about dark, contrast, light, and civilized nature.

Robert Adams, Perfect times, perfect places

This one was bought at Comptoir de l’Image (44 rue de Sévigné 75003 Paris) too.

85 euros ; it was published by Aperture in 1988.

These are pictures taken in The Pawnee National Grasslands reserve. To me it’s all about love : for the landscape, the nature, and his wife

My project is to buy all the Robert Adams books, good idea, right ?

Diane Arbus, Untitled

published by Aperture

This is a book my friend Philippe gave me for New Years. Which is great because i would never have bought this one, so it’s like one of my teacher is showing me something very important in Photography.

Matthew Monteith, Czech Eden

published by Aperture (2007),

bought at the Beaubourg bookshop ; 16 euros

This is a book i remembered i wanted to buy a few months ago, so i had to buy it when i saw it was on sale at the bookstore. This was the last issue they were selling.

I love the landscapes pictures. I have seen many times the picture called Slapy (page 19) : this is a strong picture but i don’t like it. My favorite spread is pages 46-47. Snow in picture has always been a magnet to my eyes, and i love the colors of the right page.
